I stayed here 3 nights in January 2006 in a Mixed Dorm. Back then I felt that the hostel could be a little bigger it had a big fancy entrance area but it was not as big as I thought.
The one thing this hostel does has that it’s a bonus is that it has it’s own cinema and a roof top area with awesome city views!
The hostel’s location on A’Beckett Street was great as it is right in the middle of Melbourne with Queen Victoria Market’s right opposite the hostel.
When I stayed here it was fairly new so I didn’t have any problems and I don’t think my room was even full which made it easier. I recall that had I an ensuite which made the stay more pleasant.
They offer Free WiFi (limited hours 7am-7pm) and some free food options (rice/pasta) for hostel guests along with plenty of free tea & coffee. Back in 2006 they were using secure key cards for access to the building and to rooms which was quite advanced back then as some hostels are still using keys in 2016.
Update: A lot of reviews are quite negative these days about the cleanliness of this property, as this location certainly has a reputation for being something of a party hostel and is partly why some of the reviews are so bad.
