The Hilton Cairns Hotel is a 5 star hotel located on the southern end of The Esplanade opposite the Sofitel & Reef Hotel Casino. The location is great as it’s just 400 meters from the Reef Terminal one of the main departure point for Great Barrier Reef and Island cruises. I stayed in a hotel room that had a water view which was simple a beautiful way to end or start your day.

As part of Hilton’s sustainability push there are free refillable water stations on each floor. The center of the hotel has a beautiful tropical atrium garden that brings a bit of the Daintree rainforest into the hotel experience.

In July 2023 I stayed in room 835 which was a decent sized room that was very peaceful with a great view of the Marina and the Naval ships and super yachts parked. I also got access to the executive lounge that had Canapés, drinks and other snacks if you wanted a break from exploring Cairns in some air-conditioned comfort at lunch or in the evening. The executive lounge was also where we had breakfast in the morning avoiding the mad chaos of downstairs.

The room had plenty of power points to charge the dozens of electronic devices we seem to carry with us these days and really decent blackout curtains as the sun is quite strong in Cairns and getting a decent sleep-in on a holiday is essential. I was also impressed with the size of the bathroom with shower and spa bath they have really ensured guests are comfortable who are planning on staying more than a few days.

The Hilton Cairns featured two large comfortable beds and couch on the balcony for relaxing and planning the next days activities or unwinding after a busy day out on the reef. The room also featured plenty of lights and the bedside clock featured USB charging ports.

The hotel also features an amazing resort pool area with plenty of space for the family to relax and a spa bath to warm up on a cooler winter morning. The pool area also features a pool bar for drinks and snacks if you plan on spending a few hours hanging out.

I had a nice time staying at this property and would happily stay here again due to it’s brilliant rooms, location to Cairns city, The Esplanade and the Reef Terminal.
