The Novotel Barcelona Cornellà is a 4-star, 153-room hotel spread over three floors in Cornellà de Llobregat, on the southwestern edge of Barcelona. Built in 2004 and renovated in 2019, it’s a solid choice for travellers who want easy airport access, a pool and a quieter base outside the city centre.
📍 Location
The hotel is about a 5-minute walk from Almeda FGC station, with plenty of cafés and restaurants nearby. It’s also roughly 11 minutes by car from Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport.
A word of warning on taxis: expect to pay around 30 EUR from the airport. My driver insisted on cash because the card machine “wasn’t working”, but when I didn’t have the full amount in cash, a working card machine magically appeared to cover the difference. Carry some euros or be ready to stand your ground.
🍽️ Food & Drink
The on-site restaurant, Binomio, is lovely, with a big terrace, cocktails and a decent range of food. The hand-cut fries are delicious, and the beef croquettes are a must-order. The catch is that Binomio is run as a separate concept, so the ALL Accor F&B discount didn’t apply when I ate there. Worth knowing if you’re an ALL member counting on your dining perks.
🏊 Pool & Gym
The outdoor pool looked amazing, set in a quiet garden area, but the 10am–9pm opening hours ruled out a morning swim before heading out. There’s a small gym open 24/7. Just ask reception for access.
🛏️ The Room
I had a very peaceful night’s sleep. Novotel beds never disappoint. The room was a reasonable size with a nice view over the pool, though the décor is starting to feel a little dated. Screen casting from my Samsung Galaxy phone to the TV worked well enough.
I was lucky enough to get a room upgrade, which included complimentary drinks from the minibar, a nice bonus. There was a sofa that looked like it could fold out into a second bed, handy if you’re travelling with friends or as a family. Luggage storage was limited, so heavy packers may struggle.
🛁 Bathroom
The bathroom had both a bath and a separate shower, but I’d have preferred a larger shower.
🧹 Housekeeping
Here’s the strangest part of the stay. Housekeeping took the wet towels each day but never replaced them, so by my final day I had no towels at all. That said, the cleaning itself was excellent and the room was spotless every day.
📶 Wi-Fi, AC & Noise
The Wi-Fi was fine at around 45 Mbps, but I expected better from a Novotel. The air conditioning worked well enough. My room was at the very end of the corridor, so there was very little hallway noise.
✅ Verdict
The Novotel Barcelona Cornellà gets the fundamentals right: great beds, a quiet room, a spotless clean every day, a beautiful pool and a genuinely good restaurant on site. The dated rooms, average Wi-Fi, restrictive pool hours and the towel mix-up hold it back a little. Still, for anyone flying in or out of El Prat, or attending events at Fira Gran Via, it’s a comfortable and convenient base.
👍 Pros: Excellent beds, quiet rooms, spotless housekeeping, great pool, 24/7 gym, tasty food at Binomio, 5 minutes’ walk to the FGC, close to the airport
👎 Cons: Dated décor, limited luggage space, no ALL discount at Binomio, pool closed early mornings, average Wi-Fi
