Update: The hotel shut in March 2019 to be redeveloped into an commercial office tower.
Overlooking the glorious Victoria Harbour, 34 floors of luxury await guests here. Convenient to the airport and MRT, the Mandarin Oriental Excelsior nestles in the heart of Hong Kong’s shopping centre in Causeway Bay, just minutes from the CBD. The hotel was built on plot #1 which was the very first parcel of land sold in 1841 after Hong Kong became a British colony and originally was a warehouse for Jardine Matheson. The hotel opened in 1973 and was well known to tourists and residents as a key part of Hong Kong’s colonial past also being the tallest building in Causeway Bay. The hotel was also made famous by events such as the “Revenge of the Pink Panther” film in the hotel lobby in 1978.
The Excelsior features 886 rooms and suites, and this hotel was designed with both the business traveler and the visitor in mind so you can be sure it’s suitable for most travellers.
This hotel is close not only to the Times Square Shopping Mall, but also to Victoria Park and the Happy Valley Race Course for a bracing time. Take the ferry to Kowloon when you need to add some hustle and bustle. Don’t worry there is plenty of things to do in Hong Kong so you won’t be short of activities when you visit. Outside the hotel doors lies a whole world of cuisine and culture, nightlife and music. However, the intrepid explorer need not even leave the hotel. The Excelsior provides its own entertainment and culinary delights, too; quite a few of them.

ToTT’s, or the Talk of the Town, is a chic eatery serving international dishes with an inspired twist.

The Lounge is for lighter fare, snacks and afternoon tea, with posh couches for relaxing and potent coffees any time of the day. EXpresso is a coffee bar supplying the adventurous with over 15 different types of Italian coffee. On-the-go meals are also available.
