If you are flying out of Australia and you plan on flying to another country, you will find low-cost options at five Australian airports and one New Zealand airport. The Air Asia flights leave from Darwin, the Gold Coast, Melbourne, Perth and Christchurch. Destinations for Air Asia flights do truly span the globe. If you are flying to Asia, you can choose destinations in such cities as Hong Kong, Osaka, Tokyo, Seoul, Taipei, Delhi, Colombo, Rangoon, Jakarta, Singapore, and Bangkok, Phuket, and Hanoi. In Europe, Air Asia provides flights to Paris and London. Air Asia does not offer any flights to North or South America or Africa.

Air Asia offers a fleet of more than 50 airplanes, including long haul options to provide flights to Europe. Subsidiaries of the airline include Thai Asia Air, Indonesia Air Asia, VietJet, Air Asia Philippines, Air Asia X, and Air Asia Japan.

As mentioned, Air Asia is a no-frills, low-cost airline. It offers only one type of seating, so you cannot choose business or first class. Meals are not available on flights through Air Asia, but snacks and some drinks are available at a cost. Due to certain laws in Malaysia, Air Asia does not serve alcohol on board its flights. While Air Asia does not have its own frequent flyer program, it is a part of the joint program called BIG, which provides loyalty points through several airlines including Air Asia.

If you are interested in bells and whistles, then you would need to look elsewhere. However, if you are looking for a low-cost flight option, then you should consider Air Asia.
