I stayed here in August 2012 in a 6 bed mixed dorm and the staff were great as we arrived late at night and because we had several more stays planned at HI locations we bought a HI membership which saved us on this hostel but also on the tour we booked the next day to Niagara Falls. The good thing was that like many HI and YHA hostels the beds were pre-made which meant that we could just crash out without having to worry about making our beds.
The room had some small lockers which are suitable for valuables but most people just left their stuff on the floor, if you want to use the lockers bring your own lock.
I like hostels like this that are proactive in ensuring their guests check out some of the awesome activities and tours, and they plugged the BBQs on the roof as the highlight of the hostel. The rooftop BBQs are something of a more organised affair organised by the staff so you have to be aware when they are happening and contribute to the cost of food to participate.
It is a good hostel if you are looking to mix with other travellers because of the roofdeck, a good option is to grab some beers or wine and make some new friends.
